Currently, there’s a dangerous plan being quietly advanced by New York State’s Education Department to regionalize the public school system throughout New York State. In short, this ill-conceived plan would force school districts to pool resources, programs, and services in a way that could undermine our educational quality and threaten the administrative independence of all 56 public school districts in Nassau County. It has been crafted in a way that bypasses the State Legislature, local School Boards of Education, and, most importantly, the voices of parents. Even worse, if this plan moves forward, school districts will have no option to opt out. This is just another example of Albany bureaucrats attempting to take away local control and further attack our suburban communities.
We cannot allow this to happen. This plan needs to be stopped in its tracks! Please sign my petition below to tell Governor Hochul, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and all our State Lawmakers to end all plans to regionalize our public school system. Our children deserve better.
